AD Architecture Reimagines a 300 m2 Home by Minimalist Design Language

AD Architecture has renovated a 300 m2 single-storey apartment, located in Shantou, China. The project draws inspiration from the visual presentation of performing on stage, generating a white, serene space as ‘stage’ for the residents. Various details and dotted bright colors were featured in order to create dramatic visual effects, which highlight the stylish character of the contemporary house.

Background
Situated at the CBD of Shantou, this single-storey luxury residence embraces the river view outside. Spanning 300 square meters, the space is like a piece of white curtain, which opens up a free field for people to experience. The project draws inspiration from the visual presentation of performances on stage. We turned the white space into a serene backdrop and stage for the occupants, with the details and dotted bright colors generating dramatic visual effects, which showcase the stylish character of contemporary luxury homes.

This project is an integrated architectural & interior design project located at a prime residential area in South Jakarta, commissioned by the Client to be developed on a 200m² land area. It is a great opportunity and a formidable challenge for Somia Design Studio to work on this project in maintaining a good service, especially during the construction process until the handing over of the project so that the Client can occupy the house comfortably.

This house was built to be a house for the family to meet during special occasion. It is therefore hoped that the ground floor become the central place to accommodate the get-together of the families. The limitation of the site’s size however can make for a spacious outcome. Demanded to have a lounge area as a discussion space and relaxing area is proven to hit the mark for providing ample spaces around the house.

The client, who is a jewellery design professional, hopes to have a serene living space and is strict about details. Through close communication and joint efforts with the client for two years, the designer created this ideal and serene home that is secluded from the busy city.

Acted as a dream-maker, the designer realized the client’s imagination on the “home” via ingen-ious treatment of the space. Natural wood colours set the overall tone of the residence, with dark and light shades forming a contrast and enriching a sense of layering.
